A less expensive option are the national parks service boats departing from Thap
Lamu, a fishing port 20 km north of Thai Muang, 40 km south of Takua Pa, or
100 km north of Phuket.
Parks Division Boats: Boats operated by the parks division cost B600 one-way,
take three hours, and run during the high season Nov. March. The boat goes
directly to the park headquarters, bungalows, and park cafe on Ko Miang. Boats
to other islands are rather expensive at B200 per trip.

Charters: An eight-person private boat char ter from Thap Lamu should cost
B4000-5000 return. Weekends are the best times to find other passengers to help
share costs.Travelers have reportedly joined Songserm speedboats at lower
cost on a space-available basis.
Thai Dive Company: This British-owned dive company offers threeto five-day
charters Oct. May on their 25-meter, live-aboard dive ship. Prices start at
B5000 for snorkelers and B8000 for divers. Owner Tim Anstee runs a profes
